Ethics: Personal Safety for Bodyworkers
Taught by Kyren Epperson
3 CEs / $75
Explore ways to feel safer and stronger physically and emotionally in both your everyday life and your bodywork practice, including both physical techniques and verbal responses designed to interrupt or avoid dangerous situations.
articipants will first learn physical techniques grounded in Japanese martial arts that will allow you to be physically safer in emergency situations and help you feel stronger and more confident in your body in everyday life. Next, participants will practice setting clear boundaries with clients and co-workers, and practice identifying and interpreting the signs and signals that tell us that a person or situation is unsafe.
Additionally, we’ll practice both physical and verbal responses to challenging and potentially overwhelming situations, such as de- escalating clients in distress, or responding to inappropriate behavior, including harassment and other threatening behavior. We’ll conclude with exercises to help us recenter and after challenging situations
