Movement Therapy Part One

6 CEs, $180

Taught by Kenichi Kiyama

Sotai is a Japanese assisted-movement method developed by physician Keizo Hashimoto. It works by guiding the body through its pain-free range of motion with gentle resistance, communicating directly with the nervous system to release compensatory holding patterns caused by injury, repetitive stress, or poor movement habits. Originally introduced as a complementary technique for acupuncturists and shiatsu practitioners, it has since been adopted across physical therapy and athletic recovery — because its core principle applies regardless of modality: the nervous system governs muscular function, not the other way around.(descriptions below)

What We Will Cover In This Workshop Series

This hands-on workshop covers the 12 foundational Sotai movements addressing every major joint complex from head to foot — cervical spine, shoulder, thoracic and lumbar spine, hip, knee, and ankle. Work is partnered and participatory. No prior experience required. All exercises are pain-free and non-invasive. Participants actively engage with resistance throughout — that engagement is how the technique works.
