This workshop explores (1) Trauma and how it is held in the body; (2) Specific behaviors of veterans and approaches to working with veterans; (3) Awareness and cautions for the bodyworker; and (4) bodywork protocols to support veterans in releasing trauma held in the body.
- Introductions and creating sacred space
- Trauma/PTSD Symptoms
- How we hold trauma in our body
- Working with Veterans’ physical pain who also have PTSD/Anxiety/Moral Injury
- Bodyworker: How do you perceive? – Exercise
- Considerations for Veteran arrival and intake
- Considerations for Veterans at beginning of sessions
- Considerations for Veterans during sessions
- Bodyworker: Are you psychic, intuitive or a senate? Preparations and After-care
- Differences between Combat and Non-Combat Veterans
- Differences between Male and Female Veterans.
- Bodyworker: Qi Ball with energetic strings – Exercise
- Protocol #1: Heart-Centered and Contraction Focus work on LI Channel in supine. Demo followed by practice time.
- Protocol #2: Myofascial Release Technique (hips and neck). Demo followed by practice time.
Additional Techniques We’ll Cover (Time Permitting)
Other viable modalities if working directly with PTSD diagnosis (brief discussion with possible demo, only if time allows)
