Joy earned a BA in Psychology from Elmhurst College in 1999, Reiki Master Teacher certification from Equilibrium Energy+Education, became a Certified Reflexologist from the International Institute of Reflexology, and Certified Shiatsu Practitioner specializing in Zen Shiatsu from the America Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia. She graduated from Zen Shiatsu Chicago and now works there doing Admin & Outreach as well as practicing in the Professional Clinic.
Her life long love of helping people has carried her through work with infants, children, teens, adults, seniors, and pets in a variety of roles from planning activities in a retirement community to providing respite care for families of children with autism; and from co-founding an dog and cat rescue organization to teaching new parent baby massage classes.
She loves to laugh, sing, dance, knit, cook, and truly enjoys connecting with people. Joy likes sharing what self care she learned while healing from over a decade of formerly chronic low back pain after a fall on the ice. Living without chronic pain is a delight. She is passionate about helping people cultivate more bliss in their busy lives through stress management classes and cultivate more ease in their bodies through bodywork.
